A MIGRANT from Morocco has been arrested as he turned violent and abusive after a barman denied him free food and drink.

The 35-year-old man, who has not been named, has been charged with extortion and resisting arrest by police in Legnano, near Milan in Italy.

The migrant, who had been turning up to the city centre bar every day for the past 10 days, sometimes several times a day, hurled death threats, insults and became violent after his demands for free food and drink were denied by the barman.

After the police were called, the man then turned on the officers, punching and kicking them as he resisted arrest although the authorities were eventually able to overpower the migrant.
